Alaska: Juneau & South Sawyer Glacier

On our third full day (second day in port) we spent the morning in Juneau panning for gold and eating at a salmon bake before heading to the South Sawyer Glacier for the afternoon.

Because we had such a short time in Juneau we booked this tour through the cruise. I'm very much Type-A (I was the student in college that showed up 20 minutes early to class and had to wait outside the door for the previous class to finish before I could enter) and like to be early if not on time for things. So getting back to the ship on time before it departed for the day was top priority for me.

One of the things that the Husband wanted to do was pan for gold and it was a lot of fun!

We then headed out to a salmon bake. I'm not particularly fond of seafood but the salmon was perfect and absolutely mouth-watering!

Using our new-found panning skills!

That afternoon our ship went and saw South Sawyer Glacier. It was a gorgeous view and off to the right was a waterfall where people were camping. I promised the Husband that on our next visit to Alaska we would figure out how to camp next to the glacier!

Next up was a bus tour of the Klondike Railway in Skagway.
